and I looked back. As she walked down the hall, she was looking at me. Over my computer screen and through the doorway I was staring back. What else was there to see with her there, then, now? It was as if a high voltage electrical circuit formed between her eyes and mine. I couldn’t contain the current. It surged unrestrained past my eyes, down my spine, and dissipated in my chest. I wasn’t strong enough. She turned her face away, and the connection was severed.
